We welcome everyone to worship!

Worship at Black Mountain Presbyterian Church strives to be a lively, faithful, and stirring representation of the work of God’s people in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We currently offer three different worship services to fit your individual/family needs.

FirstLight WOrship

Fellowship Hall
Sundays at 8:45am

Worship experience at FirstLight is informal and participatory. We proclaim God’s Living Word through spoken word, drama, poetry, and image. It is a “come as you are” atmosphere where the most important piece is not what you are wearing, but just showing up and expecting to encounter God’s presence. The Prophets of Praise lead our worship with a variety of musical styles including contemporary, contemplative, global, as well as traditional hymns of the faith. People of all ages are welcome. The gurgles or cries of babies, the noises of wiggly toddlers, and the whispered questions of early elementary kids are just fine with us! Nursery care is available for infants to two-years-old.

Traditional Worship

Sanctuary (in fellowship hall during sanctuary renovation) – Sundays at 11:00am

On Sunday mornings at 11:00, we follow a more traditional style of worship, and strive to keep the language fresh. At BMPC, traditional does not equal boring! The Chancel Choir leads our music at this worship service. In addition to weekly anthems, they present special music events throughout the year. People of all ages are welcome in worship. The noises of children are gifts to the congregation and not viewed as distractions. For those who need it, we provide nursery care for infants up through two years old. Three-year-olds through Kindergarten stay in worship through the Faith Sharing time and then can go for Extended Session (Bible stories and activities) until worship concludes.

Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in their lives. As they respond to God’s claim and redemptive action in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed and renewed. In worship the faithful offer themselves to God and are equipped for God’s service in the world.
